I agree with mafool, I'll be a freshman and am in the same boat. Although there are Selective Living Groups that exist outside of Greek life, this project focuses only on the Greek life aspect. The average GPA among all-Greeks is 3.46. The cream will rise to the top come rush season. Poll. Really. first semester is honestly kind of random, if you are a guy, you won't be invited to a lot of the good parties thrown by top tier frats until later in the semester. Third, my main advice is not to stress out about frat life at this stage. When beginning the feature selection process for modeling, many categories were found to contain either redundancy or data leakage. These are the people who complain and tell you that you need to be in a frat or you won't survive your 4 years. Frats dominate the OPEN social scene, but there is a completely separate side to Duke's social setting that most people do not recognize because it is not publicized.
